Book Reviews: Lillian's Love Return to Book Details Return to Books
Rating: 5 Cups Lillian Baxter was able to leave a life of physical abuse by a hair. Her ex, Martin, messed with her head, leaving her with lack of self-confidence and no self-esteem. She was certain she had left the painful experience until her past resurfaced. Detective Michael Fields has a good name for himself as a detective for the sheriff's department. Offering protection to Lillian is high-priority on his list, falling in love with her was a blessed addition. After putting up with Martin belittling her and inflicting too many scars, Lillian takes a leave of absence and starts life with a new name and a new home. Tired of running, she left the one man who gave her misery and pain, never looking back. She found one man she could trust. Whereas Martin was her abuser, Michael became her protector. She thought she would never care for another man again, but Michael treats her well and shows her respect. She thought the past was behind her, until the police inform they are searching for a suspect resembling Martin. Is he on his way to finish her? She can only hope Michael can save her or will the tables be turned? Lillian's Love is loaded in so much suspense I was glued to every page. My heart went out to Lillian. There were times I shared her pain, as well as her happiness. Michael is such a great hero. He is caring and emits much compassion. The blossoming friendship, and love, between the two makes the romance unforgettable. The refreshing characters make their sensations breathtaking. Laura Marie Henion weaves a believable, and extraordinary, tale. If anyone has ever shared in any hurt in their life, only to find a second chance, Lillian's Love is just the story to read. Cherokee Coffee Time Romance What I did enjoy about LILLIAN'S LOVE, and trust me, there is plenty to recommend this book to many readers, is the attention to detail and characterization. You can fairly feel the emotion wafting off the page as Lillian realizes that her life is about to change yet again, and everything she has achieved may be lost for good, including her very own life -- again. She and Michael may seem like an odd couple, but they do get along very well and complement each other's strengths and weaknesses. And what girl couldn't help but love having her very own cop protecting her day and night? That is exactly what Michael vows to do when they realize that a deranged stalker is after Lillian. All in all, LILLIAN'S LOVE is worth the read. Ms. Henion has a knack for bringing a rugged cop to his knees, head over heels in love with the very last woman he'd expect. Amy Cunningham Romance Reviews Today Rating: 4-1/2 Stars Lillian is a successful bookstore owner and somewhat the town darling. An astute businesswomen, she runs her books store Lillian's Love with both precision and a personal touch. She has landed some of the biggest authors' booksigning. There's no question about her success. But Lillian hides a secret. She has run away and is hiding from an abusive previous boyfriend. She shies away from relationships men, especially arrogant playboys like her best friend's brother Michael. Michael is a cop, one who loves to take risks. Risk taking extends to his relationship with women, and if they don't work out, he moves on. He has gained an unsavory reputation in Lillian's eyes, but he thinks the sexy petite bookstore owner is someone for whom he would like to change. The fact that she doesn't want him near her is moot, especially when a serial killer who has a thing for Lillian is knocking off women who don't meet Lillian's standards. Michael takes on the task of guarding her, but this job has become personal, as the playboy has fallen in love... Laura Henion takes the reader on a thrill ride with Lillian's Love. The villain is creepy and smart and seems to stay one step ahead of Michael and Lillian. He's also vicious, and readers will cringe at some of his tactics. Nevertheless, the tension keeps the story moving at a solid pace right up to the edgy climax. Mildred Burkett Affaire De Couer Magazine Return to Top How to Purchase Return to Books |
